Dr Matthew Mickenbecker is a friendly, personable doctor who takes the time to explain complex conditions and persists in refining treatments to ease symptoms. Matt enjoys performing endoscopy procedures and has a high rate of polyp detection, which helps to reduce the risk of bowel cancer.
Initially trained as a pharmacist, Matt completed his medical degree at the University of Queensland. He then undertook specialty training in gastroenterology at Brisbane’s Mater Hospital, Queen Elizabeth II Hospital and the Gold Coast University Hospital.
After a year in Bendigo, Matt joined Moonee Valley Specialist Centre, where he treats patients with troublesome gut issues or distressing symptoms. Matt enjoys giving individualised care to each patient and makes his patients feel comfortable, supported and cared for.
Outside work, Matt likes running and hiking in the Grampians. He’s also a skilled woodworker who enjoys making his own furniture.
